bp starts gas production from Egypt’s offshore field

ArabFinance: UK petroleum company bp commenced gas production from its latest development offshore Qattameya gas field in the North Damietta concession in Egypt, according to an October 26th statement.

The production is carried out through bp’s joint venture Pharaonic Petroleum Company, as the field is forecast to generate up to 50 million cubic feet of gas per day, the company elaborated.

“We were able to develop Qattameya efficiently and economically,” bp’s North Africa Regional President Karim Alaa commented.

Qattameya’s discovery was announced in 2017, with bp holding 100% of equity in the North Damietta offshore concession in the East Nile Delta.

Gas production from the field is directed to Egypt’s national grid, the company noted.

Last month, bp revealed another gas discovery in the Nidoco NW-1 exploratory well that is located in Abu Madi West concession in the Nile Delta.
