King Long releases microbus with 70% local components
New model was launched at price of EGP 210,000
China’s King Long United Automotive Industry Company has participated in Egypt’s Go Green Exhibition with a microbus manufactured with 70% local components.
The Go Green Exhibition is Egypt’s first technology exhibition covering the conversion and replacement of old cars to run on natural gas.
Essam Gerges, executive director of King Long for the production of minibuses, told Daily News Egypt that the new model was launched at a price of EGP 210,000. The same model including air conditioning was priced at EGP 230,000.
The King Long-branded natural gas microbus runs on a 2.23-litre engine (carburetor), and features four cylinders and eight valves. It produces 93 horsepower at 2,800 rpm, with a maximum torque of 175 Nm. The vehicle is available with a manual transmission, rear-wheel drive, and a fuel tank capacity of 70 litres.
The average petrol consumption is 13 litres per 100 km, with the microbus including a front disc brake system on the rear drums. The vehicle’s curb weight stands at about 1,760kg, with a gross weight of 286kg.
The car is also equipped to run on natural gas, with two cylinders, which can hold a total of 30 cubic metres of natural gas, located under the rear seats.
The car’s accessories include front and rear air conditioning, rear window heater, fog lights, and power seats.
The Go Green Exhibition included 11 workshops by various stakeholders, to introduce the replacement initiative. More than 20 companies of major agents of different brands participated in the event.
