Cabinet agrees to extend reconciliation for construction violations until year end

Cabinet Spokesperson Nader Saad said that the approval came in response to the demands of several citizens, who had crowded into the administrative units designated to receive reconciliation requests in recent days.

Egypt’s Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, agreed to extend the period of reconciliation for construction violations, at its meeting on Wednesday, until the end of the year.

Cabinet Spokesperson Nader Saad said that the approval came in response to the demands of several citizens, who had crowded into the administrative units designated to receive reconciliation requests in recent days.

It also came in response to the demands of a number of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that are currently undertaking the payment of the value of reconciliation to people from the neediest villages.

Saad said that, during the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted the state’s keenness to legalise the conditions for the largest number of properties.

He also said that there are specific mandates for the concerned government agencies to facilitate procedures for accepting reconciliation papers from violators. This will ensure that all can achieve the law’s ultimate goal, which is the legalisation of conditions for buildings in violation.
