Egypt, Hungary converse about cooperation in artificial intelligence field


During the meeting, Talat reviewed the most important projects implemented by the Ministry in cooperation with state agencies and institutions for building “Digital Egypt” and providing distinguished government services via digital channels.

Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, met on Tuesday with the Ambassador of Hungary in Cairo to discuss boosting cooperation between the two countries in the fields of artificial intelligence and data science, capacity building, innovation and entrepreneurship, applied research, and cyber-security.

During the meeting, Talat reviewed the most important projects implemented by the Ministry in cooperation with state agencies and institutions for building “Digital Egypt” and providing distinguished government services via digital channels.

He added that a new university specialising in communication sciences and information technology is being established in the New Administrative Capital and is scheduled to start accepting students in the next academic year.

Talaat stressed the Ministry’s interest in supporting technological innovation by launching the Applied Innovation Center. It aims to use emerging technology to face economic and societal challenges. He also added that the Ministry seeks to establish the National Academy for Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities, which aims to adapt assistive technology to serve people with special needs.

The Minister extended an invitation to his Hungarian counterpart, through the Ambassador, to visit Cairo and get closely acquainted with the Egyptian experience in the field of communications and information technology.

For his part; Hungary’s Ambassador said that his country has a competitive advantage in the auto industry, as it invests in auto research and development. It is a regional center in Europe for smart cars, which is an industry that attracts investments in Hungary.

At the end of the meeting, the Hungarian Ambassador invited Minister Talaat to visit Hungary and closely learn about its experience in the field of communications and information technology, as well as visit Zalazone, which is a center for innovation, research, and development in Hungary.
