UK’s Standard Chartered to open Egypt’s branch in 2024

Arab Finance: Standard Chartered Bank is seeking to open its branch in Egypt next year to continue backing the government against the current economic hurdles, the bank’s CEO Bill Winters said in an interview with Asharq Business on May 23rd.

The bank has strong ties in Egypt and it will provide the country with the necessary support as the government takes tough decisions for the sake of economic reform, Winters noted.

Moreover, he said that many sovereign clients are facing economic pressures, forcing some of them to delay payments, such as Sri Lanka.

He added that the bank is currently focusing on emerging markets to offer assistance.
