Egypt, Siemens sign $352mn deal to operate world’s largest power plants

24 Sep 2018

The Egyptian government has agreed with Siemens to operate and maintain three electricity mega plants.

The new agreement was signed by the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC), which selected Siemens to provide comprehensive operation and maintenance services for Beni Suef, New Capital and Burullus power plants, for the next eight years, for a total of $352 million,

Each of the three 4.8 giga watt power plants is considered to be the largest gas-fired combined-cycle plant ever built and operated. Together the plants represent approximately 40 percent of Egypt’s power capacity, according to the German company.

The project was the largest ever for Siemens Power Generation Services in terms of power generated, and the implementation of the company’s Omnivise digital service solutions.
