13 Feb 2018

A special octane 95 petrol will be introduced in Egypt for the first time. It will be customised by different petroleum products producers, and each will carry different trade marks, starting with Exxon Mobil and Total, Minister of Petroleum Tarek El-Molla announced at a press conference on Monday.

The new petrol category will be priced the same as the normal 95 octane petrol.

“The new 95 octane petrol will be at a higher quality and with better efficiency,” said El-Molla

Egypt currently has 80 octane petrol, which is sold at EGP 3.65 per litre, 92 octane petrol valued at EGP 5, and 95 octane petrol at EGP 6.6 per litre, in addition to diesel which currently stands at EGP 3.65 per litre.

The minister announced earlier that further fuel subsidy cuts will be implemented in July, in accordance with the government’s reform programme aiming to eliminate fuel subsidies.
