09 Nov 2017

New terms have been slapped on Egypt's three providers of ration smart cards amid accusations of inefficiency and responsibility for mounting technical malfunctions leveled by the Egyptian government against the three companies of Smart, First Data, and Eveet, informed source told Al-Mal newspaper.

In a meeting held early this week with the three companies, Dr. Aly Meslhy, minister of Supplies and Internal Trade conditioned renewing contracts with the three companies on presenting solutions for putting an end to all technical malfunctions within 10 days as well as a vision for rendering services provided to cardholders including the issuance and renewal of the cards, as well as modifying place of issuance and activation, an informed source told Al-Mal newspaper.

Fines will be imposed on any company failing to adhere to the above-mentioned conditions and others to be added to any renewed contracts, provided that they will be irrevocably scrapped should violations be repeated more than three times, the source added.
